Current Activities

Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP)

The Cork Lower Harbour WWTP project commenced construction in July 2015. The majority of the Wastewater Treatment Plant process tanks are substantially complete – the concrete Nereda tanks (3 no.) are fully constructed and tested. The construction of the concrete storm water, greywater and sludge holding tanks is substantially complete. The testing and construction of associated outfall/rising mains/gravity sewer mains have also commenced and are on programme. 

Passage West / Monkstown / Carrigaline / Ringaskiddy

Planning permission has been completed and tender evaluation is underway for Passage West, Monkstown, Carrigaline and Ringaskiddy network upgrades.


Cobh network design under preparation. A planning application will be required for the proposed pumping stations in Cobh and consultations have been held with residents, county planners, the county architect and local interest groups.  Planning submission will be submitted shortly to An Bord Pleanala.

Update on Third Party Investigation Contracts

The majority of these works are now complete and reports on their findings awaited. 

Some final investigative works will be completed in Cobh in the coming months to assist in finalising certain specific designs.
